Mariam Jalloul Joins Zaman as Executive Director
We are excited to share a historic milestone in Zaman’s 30-year journey: following a national search, we are honored to welcome Mariam Jalloul as Zaman’s first Executive Director.
This new role represents an important step in strengthening Zaman’s leadership and preparing our organization for its next era of growth, innovation, and impact. It reflects thoughtful planning by our Board of Directors and visionary founder to ensure that Zaman continues to thrive.

As Executive Director, Mariam is helping to lead Zaman’s strategic direction, working alongside our dedicated leadership team to expand our impact and create new opportunities for the women and children we serve.
Before joining the team at Zaman, Mariam served as Chief Strategy Officer for the City of Dearborn and previously held leadership roles in the United States Congress. She holds an undergraduate degree from Harvard University and master's degrees in both Business Administration and Public Health from the University of Michigan.
Throughout her career, Mariam has been guided by a commitment to justice, equity, and strengthening communities. She brings deep expertise in strategic planning, organizational leadership, public policy, and cross-sector partnerships to advance Zaman's mission and expand its impact.
“Working alongside Najah and the entire Zaman community is a tremendous privilege, and I am honored to help lead the organization into its next chapter,” said Mariam. “Poverty is a policy choice. It is a matter of justice. Together, we will continue expanding opportunities for women and children to break cycles of poverty, with Zaman serving as their advocate and champion.”

This new leadership structure allows Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Najah Bazzy to continue to guide Zaman’s vision, cultivate philanthropic relationships, and serve as an ambassador for the mission that has transformed countless lives across the globe.
“Zaman’s greatest strength has always been its people and its commitment to the mission,” said Sumreen Ahmad, Chair of Zaman’s Board of Directors. “This moment reflects thoughtful growth and our commitment to ensuring Zaman remains strong, innovative, and prepared for the future. Together, Najah and Mariam represent the leadership needed to carry this organization into its next chapter. We are not only honoring our past; we are investing in our future.”
