Walk4Humanity Recap
On Sunday, September 22, 2013, a group of over 450 men, women and children participated in Zaman International’s 4th Annual Walk4Humanity at Nankin Mills in Westland. The chilly fall weather was no match for the warmth created by families, friends and the common cause of building Hope for Humanity. Founder and Executive Director Mrs. Najah Bazzy introduced Grand Marshal Mayor William Wild of Westland to kick off the Walk with inspiring words for the crowd.
This year’s Walk also featured Project Able – Ability Awareness, an initiative that aims to challenge stereotypes and stigmas surrounding disabled individuals and their families. For the first time in its history, this 2013 Walk included a 5K timed run, won by Mr. Hassan Irani of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, with a final time of 19:37, second and third place winners were Wissam Dabaja and Milah Davanzo. All participants enjoyed a day filled with activities, ranging from pony and horse rides, to face painting, to a delicious barbecue lunch.
All proceeds from the event support the programs of Zaman International, which provide crisis assistance to marginalized women and children in Metro Detroit and around the world. We'd like to thank our sponsors and the many volunteers who made the event special to all in attendance.
