Refugee Sponsorship

Zaman is proud to partner with the Office of Global Michigan and Welcome Corps, serving as Michigan’s lead Private Sponsorship Organization (PSO). As the state’s lead PSO, Zaman advises and works closely with Private Sponsorship Groups (PSGs) to ensure a smooth resettlement for all newcomers arriving in Michigan through the Welcome Corps program.

How it Works

A PSG is a group of 5 or more citizens who are committed to supporting an individual refugee or refugee family throughout their journey to the United States and their first 90 days of resettlement. PSGs can choose to be matched with a refugee awaiting resettlement or request to sponsor a refugee they already know by name.

PSGs support newcomers by connecting them with resources and helping to foster an efficient and pleasant acclimation to the civics and culture of the United States and Michigan. PSGs support refugees and families in establishing housing, employment, utilities, and more; enrolling in healthcare programs, government assistance, and schools; and locating and procuring necessities such as food, furniture, and clothing.
